Marketing 101: Low Cost Marketing for Small Businesses

Presenter: Laura B. Poindexter, laura b creative

Ms. Laura B. Poindexter is the principal of laura b creative, a small business marketing and graphic design studio in Sterling, VA. She has served as a Senior Marketing Analyst for international telecom company, Equant. Prior to that, she worked in the sporting goods industry for over 10 years directing marketing programs such as logo design, catalog photo shoots and billboard campaigns.  Ms. Poindexter will discuss:

  • Why you need a marketing plan  
  • How to create one
  • How to assess if your marketing plan is working
  • How to improve and expand your current marketing 
  • How to market for next to nothing (including 70+ low- to no-cost marketing strategies)

Getting Started in the Government Marketplace

                  Stephen S. Kaye, Counsel - Bryan Cave LLP, Washington

Ms. Sequin Lukon is founder of The Essential Agreement, LLC, a contracts consulting firm for small and medium-sized businesses. In 30 years as a contract professional, she has advised executives and guided contract staffs on the pursuit and execution of more equitable government and commercial contracts, and has negotiated, written and administered contracts on behalf of both large and small companies. Mr. Stephen Kaye has over 20 years of experience in government contracts litigation and counseling on matters such as bidding, competition, contract administration and subcontracting. Seminar topics will include:

  • FAR - what is it and why is it important? 
  • Definitions and highlights of the different federal acquisition methods
  • An overview of the RFP process
  • Issues to consider on GSA schedule procurements
